A local emergency shelter is receiving a boost of community support during the winter months. ?CVOEO’s Champlain Place Emergency Shelter partnered with Katie’s Kids Foundation this week to celebrate a growing collaboration aimed at supporting people experiencing homelessness.

Burlington opened an emergency shelter Sunday evening through Monday morning amid dangerously cold temperatures. The shelter at the Miller Center on Gosse Court in the city’s New North End is a low-barrier, pet-friendly facility that can host 100 people.
Burlington is opening an extreme cold weather shelter on New Year's Day as temperatures are expected to be dangerously frigid. The shelter will be located at the Miller Center and will be run in partnership with CVOEO, according to Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak's office.
Burlington authorities announced that a refuge for extreme cold weather will open Christmas evening for the first time this year. The shelter, at the Miller Center at 30 Gosse Court, will be open starting 5:00 p.m. on Christmas Day until 8:00 a.m. on Friday, due to wind chill temperatures forecast to fall below -10 Fahrenheit overnight.
