Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO) hosted the “Pull Against Poverty” , a tug of war event on Saturday, November 4th in 2017 to benefit CVOEO and to raise awareness about the issue of our time—inequality. In just the first year, we raised over $4,000 to fund our diverse set of social justice programs.

We plan on hosting the second annual Pull Against Poverty next fall, raising even more money and getting more teams together!

The tug of war event is a blast-- bringing together various community members, from differing places of work, geographical locations and backgrounds-- to participate in a competitive and fun tug of war, all for a good cause!

If you'd like to get involved in this event, contact Joan White, Development Director at .

At CVOEO, the community members we serve are single mothers, elderly, veterans, underemployed and unemployed, disabled, refugees. We help people when hardship strikes (loss of a job, homelessness, underemployed, unexpected illness) to bridge gaps with housing, fuel and food assistance. But we also help folks to build stronger futures (credit-building, micro business development, weatherization, tax preparation assistance, early childhood education). We connect short-term and long-term solutions.

CVOEO addresses fundamental issues of economic, social, and racial justice and works with people to achieve economic independence.
