HOUSING FIELD ADVOCATE: Chittenden Community Action is recruiting for a Community Service Worker / Housing Field Advocate (job description) to assist low income Chittenden County families with finding or maintaining permanent housing. This position is responsible for counseling families regarding obtaining suitable housing, social programs and subsidized housing programs; contacting and negotiating with potential housing providers; being an advocate for clients with various agencies to locate funding for back rent or security deposits; and coordinating efforts with other agencies on the family’s behalf.
Successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline plus two years of community service experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge are acquired. Excellent computer, verbal and written communication skills are essential. A Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required. This is a 20 hours/week position with excellent benefits. COMMUNITY SERVICES WORKER/ VITA TAX COORDINATOR: Franklin Grand Isle Community Action seeks a Community Services Worker / VITA Tax Coordinator (job description) to coordinate the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. The VITA Program provides free federal and state income tax preparation for low income Franklin and Grand Isle households from February 1st through April 15th. This position is responsible for coordinating and organizing the overall effort for the VITA Program; assisting and advocating for low income individuals and families seeking assistance with basic needs and to determine eligibility for various Community Action programs and services and maintaining technical knowledge of federal and state tax preparation.
Successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline plus two years of community service experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge are acquired. Accounting or income tax preparation experience is highly desirable. Excellent organizational, computer, verbal and written communication skills are essential. A Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required. This is a 20 hours/week full year position with excellent benefits. Starting salary is $15.50 per hour.

Outreach Advocate/Educator: Voices Against Violence, a program providing shelter, support and advocacy services to victims/survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Franklin and Grand Isle counties is recruiting for an OUTREACH ADVOCATE/EDUCATOR. This position is responsible for providing support and advocacy services to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence; providing outreach and training/education to service providers and teens as part of a team; and participating in collaborative systems work in the service area.
Successful applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in the Human Services or Educational fields or equivalent/related education and experience; excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to relate to youth and adults.
