Funding

Help feed families like James, Ruth, Victoria, and Nick!

CEFS is funded primarily through the generosity of the local community, as 61% of our funds in fiscal year 2006 came from private donations from individuals, churches, and other organizations. The United Way also supplied approximately 21% of that year's funding.  Grants from private foundations and municipalities comprised 7.5%, and an innovative program called “Send Hunger Packing,” in which community members make donations at grocery store checkouts, accounted for 3%.  Federal funding, a characteristically small percentage of Food Shelf funds, made up less than 5% of the FY06 budget.
