The office of Franklin Grand Isle Community Action (FGICA) is located on North Main Street near City Hall and is a member agency of the United Way of Franklin and Grand Isle Counties.  Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday except holidays.  FGICA provides a variety of free services to help low income residents of the two counties including assistance with fuel and utilities, housing, food, budgeting information, Farm to Family Program, advocacy, information and referral and tax preparation. 

FGICA staff is happy to assist with filling out forms and applications for such programs as Reach-Up, Food Stamps, Fuel Assistance and the Health Care programs -  Medicaid, Vermont Health Access Plan (VHAP), Dr. Dynasaur and Women, Infants and Children (WIC).  Beginning in October of 2007, FGICA anticipates helping uninsured workers enroll in the new Vermont healthcare program called Catamount Health Cost and Premium Assistance Program. 

FGICA also operates outreach offices in the towns of Richford and Grand Isle.  The Richford site is located at the United Methodist Church and is open the last 2 Mondays of the month from 11 am until 2 pm. The Grand Isle site is located at St. Joseph’s Church and is open on Tuesdays from 2 pm until 4 pm. 

The Franklin/Grand Isle Community Action (FGICA) food shelf is located at their office at 86 North Main Street in St. Albans.  The hours are 1 pm to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday except holidays.  Nearly 400 families receive a 3 day supply of emergency food each month.  FGICA also operates food shelves at their outreach offices in Richford and Grand Isle.  The Richford food shelf is located at the United Methodist Church and is open the last 2 Mondays of the month from 11 am until 2 pm. The Grand Isle food shelf is located at St. Joseph’s Church and is open on Tuesdays from 2 pm until 4 pm.
